Two Weeks in Costa Rica: A Tropical Adventure


Costa Rica, known for its lush rainforests, stunning beaches, and rich biodiversity, is the perfect destination for a two-week getaway. Join us as we explore this incredible country, from the vibrant capital of San José to the breathtaking beaches of Manuel Antonio, with stops in La Fortuna and Jaco along the way.


Day 1-2: Arriving in San José

We landed in San José, Costa Rica’s capital, and quickly immersed ourselves in the local culture.

Exploring the City

On our first day, we explored downtown San José, visiting the National Theater and the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum. The architecture and history were captivating, providing a glimpse into the country’s rich heritage.

In the evening, we enjoyed dinner at a local restaurant, savoring traditional dishes like gallo pinto and casado. The vibrant flavors set the tone for our culinary journey ahead.


Day 3-5: Arenal Volcano and La Fortuna

Next, we headed to La Fortuna, home to the magnificent Arenal Volcano.

Adventurous Activities

Upon arrival, we visited the Arenal Volcano National Park. We hiked the trails, taking in stunning views of the volcano and its surrounding rainforest. The diverse wildlife was a highlight, with howler monkeys and colorful birds making appearances.

La Fortuna Waterfall

One of our favorite experiences was hiking to the La Fortuna Waterfall. The trek down was rewarding, and once we reached the bottom, we were greeted by a breathtaking sight. We took a refreshing dip in the cool waters, surrounded by lush vegetation and the sound of cascading water.

Soaking in Hot Springs

Later, we soaked in the Tabacón Hot Springs, relaxing in the natural thermal pools surrounded by beautiful gardens. It was the perfect way to unwind after our adventures.


Day 6-8: Monteverde Cloud Forest

Leaving La Fortuna, we made our way to Monteverde, a renowned cloud forest reserve.

Upon arrival, we set out to explore the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The misty atmosphere, vibrant flora, and unique wildlife made for an enchanting experience.

We took a guided night tour, where we spotted nocturnal creatures like sloths and frogs. The sounds of the forest at night were mesmerizing!

Day 9-10: Jaco Beach

After Monteverde, we headed to Jaco, a lively beach town known for its surf culture.

We spent our days lounging on Jaco Beach, where the waves were perfect for surfing. Whether we were catching some waves or simply relaxing on the sand, the vibrant atmosphere made it a fun getaway.

Day 11-14: Guanacaste Region

For the final leg of our journey, we traveled to the Guanacaste region, known for its beautiful beaches and warm climate.

Beach Hopping

We spent our days hopping between stunning beaches like Tamarindo and Conchal. The golden sands and crystal-clear waters were perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling. We even tried stand-up paddleboarding, which was a highlight!

Wildlife and Nature

We also took a day trip to Rincón de la Vieja National Park, where we hiked through volcanic landscapes, witnessing bubbling mud pots and hot springs. The diverse ecosystems provided a great opportunity for wildlife spotting, including howler monkeys and various bird species.

As our trip came to a close, we enjoyed a final sunset dinner by the beach, reflecting on the incredible journey we’d had through Costa Rica. The warm colors of the sunset mirrored our feelings of gratitude and joy.
